My name is Jessica.
Please do not stalk me.

I am 25. I live in San Antonio now -- but only since the last part of September, 2001. I moved here from the Dallas area, where I've lived virtually my whole life -- the last three years in downtown Dallas itself. "Why did you move?" people ask. "I got bored," I answer, and it's really the most accurate answer I can give.

I have two pet parrots, Dante, a greencheek conure, and Kiwi, a Senegal. The three of us make an awkward, loud, but loving little family.

To keep my little family, I work as a copy editor. Don't know what that is? Check this out. It's a fun kind of thing for someone who can spend hours holding forth on the merits of a particular comma placement.

I majored in journalism at the University of North Texas (go Mean Green!). A guy I used to work with at the Dallas paper called me "Scrappy" (after the UNT mascot), and even if I ignored him (not to be mean...because I honestly didn't realize he was talking to me), would keep calling me that until I responded. It amused me terribly.

Those were good years, in j-school at UNT. Here's the paper I cut my teeth on: The North Texas Daily.

So after that, I started working at the Dallas Morning News as an intern. Almost three years after that, I up and moved to San Antonio, surprising almost everyone I knew.

And that's my story up to now.

For fun, I like to drink beer, hop out of airplanes, take guitar lessons, play the cello, read books, rot my brain on America Online, and stare off into space having Deep Thoughts.

About this site
This is just a silly little way for me to keep in touch with my friends, and maybe (I hope I hope) amuse people.

I got Alex the cockatiel when I moved to Dallas in 1999. When I got him, I was desperately lonely, and he was something to love. He did the job well.

In February 2001, I lost him while I was taking him to the vet. It sucked. I abandoned this site after that, because it seemed pointless.

But now it seems fun, and I hope it stays that way. I'll update with photos of my other birds, and it is to be hoped, some other amusing stuff.

RAWK ON.
